Shortly after my first foray into bread making, I received this great book as a gift from my children, The New Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day. I opened it up and started right away. I’m learning about bread and have had several weeks with more fresh baked bread than we can eat in the house, so it goes out to friends who are always willing to taste test. So far I’ve made the basic white bread, rye, pumpernickel, and European peasant bread. And technically, it’s more than 5 minutes of my time dedicated to daily bread bakes, but not much more actually hands on. The rising time, and the heating of the oven, and baking are taking up more time than mixing or kneading. I will try to share what I learn as I bake my way through this book. For now, here are some of my results. Click on the images in the gallery to open the pictures larger and scroll through them.
